Having spent many years interested in film-based photography, I have eventually joined the digital age with a Minolta Z3 (which I like a lot). Being somewhat new to the game I feel slightly reluctant to post anything, but here goes. I was going to enter this into the Bridges II category, but didn't. Just some feedback would be appreciated, no holds barred, just let me know what you think!

Thanks,
Under the bridge

Welcome to the insane asylum that is DPC Mark! Believe me, you'll ask yourself many many times "should I have entered that?" after you've entered a challenge... and the voting may or may not answer the qeustion. The comments may if the voting does not. In any case, you will certainly learn, and that's what the site is about. Jump right in, the water's fine!
BTW, on our bridge image, I think the composition is pretty good, maybe the lighting could be better, different time of day may have produced more intriguing results. Either very early or very late light, or maybe when the sun is at a shallow angle ot the bridge face, highlighting the texture... lots of possibilities.

The composition is great. The light at a different time of the day could have been to your advantage. The bright spot on the bottom left tends to be a bit distracting in that regard. Also a polarizing filter would have been an asset to reduce the reflection/glare of the water.(I didn't read Kirbic's post until I had finished my critique).

Welcome. I too am a new guy, about a month or so ago and I'v learnt so much already. Enter as many challenges as possible. 99% of the comments I've had had been really helpful.

I agree with kirbic, lighting is a bit dark. I get the fealling I'm about to fall into the water. I like it.

If you entered it I would have scored it 6 or 7.

Try and get some images in your portfolio too as not all images are entered into challenges. Plus it's easier to show images for critique.
For example

Welcome and have fun.

Thanks for the comments. I am now looking around for something 'seventies' to have a bash.

What have we started??

Welcome Mexico :-)

Your shot has a good composition but it's got an overall "grey" hue to it. A lack of contrast probably from shooting at the wrong time of day. Overall, I'd say it's a good photo.
