Well I was just browsing for software to buy for editing images and I came across Adobe Photoshop 8.0 and Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0, both of which I have heard a lot about in the discussions on this site. My question is which is better? I know I might spark off a debate here but that is what my intention is. It brings out the key points of both the sides which will be helpful. If anyone has better solutions please add.

Where are you buying these for $4- $5. Seems cheap. I would saty away from ebay. Also go with photoshop. Definately stay away from ebay on software you don't that know you are buying a genuine copy. Photoshop is a $800 program so one for $5 would scare me.

The ultimate software to produce professional work is PS. 7 will do but 8 or cs has more attractive features. |

I suggest if you are going to buy pirated software you not anounce your intention to break the law on public fora. And to say that such original software is not available legally is silly, you are aware of the web, Adobe will ship it to you. |

CS is the name Photoshop 8.0 goes by. I would look at what features you need and decide whether Photoshop Elements 3.0 will suffice. It costs much less than CS.

Well I am new to post processing and all I have learnt is from this site and the tutorials present here. I am however confused about how to implement these on the software. I was trying to do a few of these tricks at a friends place and boy did I mess up big time. So maybe I didnt do things right. also I was using Corel *something* there, although the tools looked similar. That taught me that I have a LOONG way to go. so the need to get own software.

Thank you.... they seem very nice. I shall go through them. They seem very specific. So I guess the CS seems the choice here. Thanks all and esp rex

You can go to the Adobe website and download both Photoshop CS and Elements 3 for a 30 day period.
