Leafy SeaDragon on display at the Birch Aquarium in La Jolla. This 50mm 1.8 mk ii is amazing. With as low as the lights were in this place I came home with a bunch of shots.

50mm 1:1.8 MKII, ISO 400, 1/50sec @ f/1.8, Av mode, pattern metered.

ED: Handheld, through glass, dimly light display.

Ooh, awesome! Great point you make about the f/1.8. I tried some aquarium pics last year and didn't have any luck. Thanks for pointing this out!

The tail is out of focus, but the head is nice and crystal clear.

That looks incredible for a handheld low-light shot. Looks like you're getting your money's worth with that lens (and of course the photographer behind the camera gets most of the credit for capturing it so well!) Great shot.

Thanks all...

Yup that 50mm 1.8 MK II plastic mount and all...the results are just amazing.

No filters (not even UV...just got that on my way home tonight)...

The aquarium that it was in had a slight curve on the front...the room had very few ambient light sources so I moved around a get no relection in the glass.

I was about a foot away from the (clean) glass and the seahorse about a foot on the other side. This one was gracefully floating so little movement on his end. The blue was a backlit paper that they had in the back of the aquarium.

Not the biggest facility that I have ever been to but they had some really good displays. I'll be working up my Jellyfish and Nemo looking fish over the next couple of days.

Thanks for the Comments.
