I noticed you were very careful not to include any people in the shot of the Adult Video store. I bet you made a few folks nervous, hanging around there snapping pics....

I tried not to hang out in any one spot for too long. Thanks for looking.

which lens did you use?
I liked the perspective shot of the second to last photo. The firehouse looks rustic and old. Very cool. |

Neat....
I really like 'crowd' tells a great little story..
It'd be interesting to see this sort of thing from a few more DPC'ers.
Instead of a 'where I live' challenge, we could all post a series of photos from a walkabout, 'near where I live' :-).
Out of curisoty, what city is this, and what lens are you shooting with?
Cheers, Me.

Thanks all. I used my 18-55 and it's Pittsburgh.
I was going to go back to the construction site with my 300mm but I was out of quarters and the parking meter was about to expire.

Nice pics! This kind of comes to mind a few of the recent threads on studio or candid/moment shots. It would be great if we all had the time to go walk about! I like the enginecompany, I guess it's the kid in me! |

This one set me to laughing. Last July, I did a walk about (not good exercise because I kept stopping for pix.) One of the places I stopped was the a split entrance / exit for a new subdivision of large, expensive homes. Took about 20 or 30 pix of the small decorative gardens in the middle of the lanes.
Darn - timing is everything! Two months later that exact spot fell 40' into an unexpected sinkhole. Gosh, if it has just happened on July 9th; think of the pictures I would gotten then!!!!!!!!!

oh yeah it was cold! I shot without gloves -- I think I was only out for about 45 minutes, but honestly, I didn't think too much about the cold. I thought about cutting two of the fingers out of my gloves and wearing them, but then I decided against it.
As far as battery life...I've shot 800 some pics so far and only charged my battery 3 times...been a good 350 though since last time I've charged it. The second time I charged it, was just for good measure though -- it wasn't dead yet.

Too funny. You gottme. Boy, if I didn't know better, I'd bet you were a fifty-eight year old guy who lives up north somewhere.
Thanks for the laugh. k |

If you have a Walgreen's or an Army-Navy surplus store near you, there are glove with the finger tips cut out. There is a little hood that can flip back (held by Velcro) or brought forward to cover the fingertips. Gives you more flexibility for shooting.
Kathy.
Oh, yeah. They only work if you leave them on when shooting. And, you might have to be careful that all that big fluffy stuff doesn't get in front of your lens (20 shots of wool-covered fingers is just way too much.) |
