I am shooting my first wedding April 2 and have decided that this glass will be getting the majority of the work.
I took a few shots of my father and I am pretty impressed!
I have posted one of the shoots. I did one in color and one in B&W.

Congratulations on your acquisition. It certainly is a solid lens. Not sure of your anticipated shots in your upcoming Wedding Shoot, but you may want to consider expanding your arsenal a bit. I might suggest asking other working professionals what lenses they insist on when shooting Weddings.

You'll love that lens.
Practice the living daylights out of it as it makes you work harder to compose a shot but the results are awesome and worth the extra effort.
I bought one last week and haven't used the kit lens very much since.
I tried a few food shots that I like but my favorite is this one inspired by a dpc member.

Excellent lens - I love mine.
May I suggest getting a BR2A reversing adapter so you can use it for macro work -
Here's one I just took,
And at a 100% crop,
This image was just quickly thrown together, with a bit more time and effort you can get some amazing macro shots with the 50mm reversed.

Great macros!
Right now I am using my Sigma 105mm for my macro shots but I might give the BR2A reversing adapter a try also.

The Sigma 105mm macro (or Nikkor 105 micro) are on my wish list, along with the Sigma 10-20 and the Nikkor 80-400 VR

I was just looking at B&H prices. The 50mm 1.8D autofocus is $89.95. I also saw that the 50mm 1.4D autofocus is $229.95! I didn't realize that the slightly faster 1.4 would be so much more expensive!!
Also, the BR2A Reversing Adaptor costs $23.95. How does that work exactly for macro photography?

I believe it will allow you to reverse mount your 50mm
PM "colda" he will probably be able to give you more info since he has already purchased it,

As qmdi said, it allows you to reverse mount your 50mm.
It has a 52mm thread on one side that you mount on your lens like a filter, then you connect the lens to the camera using the BR2A.
You do have to work in manual mode as there is no communication between the camera and the lens. I usually open the lens up to the full 1.8 to focus (set the lens to infinity and focus is at about 3 inches), then close the aperture accordingly, for speed and lazyness the sample pic was taken at f22 with a 1 second exposure (a first test shot was 1/100s @ 1.8).
