This is the biggest moth i have seen. Also doing a pretty good job at camouflaging (sp?)

Hawk Moth, I believe. Pretty hefty, huh?

yep, i am amazed it kept still for me. I didnt really want to get too close. I am a scaredy cat. LOL

They mostly won't move in daylight unless you poke 'em, and sometimes not even then. It's why they need camouflage, dontcha' know? They're totally out of it...

Look underneath and see if there is a CIA sticker, it may not be a moth...:) Nice picture..good catch.

Did you lift the wings up? Some species they have beautiful colors under the wings; pinks, oranges, reds, etc. like this one.

Here is one we see around here from time to time, it is pretty large, a few inches across, large enough that the geckos won't go near them.
I have no idea as to what kind it is.
