I've just shot these ones. Took like 60 shots and only 3 of 'em were good! The bolts were all behind a lot of clouds, could only get 3 of 'em on the images!

What u think of it?

EDIT: upload newer versions, after NEAT IMAGE.

The second one is especially cool. Love the colors. Have you done any processing on these? They look straight from the camera to me.

They have been tweaked, yes.
Didn't quite like the first one also cz I messed up some setting on the camera, I can't recall right now! The other 2 ones IMO are very cool![

Hey scuds. Like that middle one best. They seem to have a lot of noise though. Great shots though.

You're absolutely right! The camera doesn't help that much, when noise is the matter! Can't believe how noisy it is was only at ISO 200.

Well, the little W1 behaved quite well, I think!

They look great. Did you enter the bridge challenge?

Yeah I did! Also submited for the separation one (shot it today, day off at work)!
Still looking for something for the 70's challenge.

Why not use a greater focal length? It seems the bolts could have been shown a little clearer, they don't make up much of the pic.

It won't allow me much more than that! It's only a 3x optical zoom.
If I do get to buy the tele lens add-on for the camera it'll bost it up, but still not much.

I also think it would have looked better. Or it couldn't have captured any of the bolts at all! Who knows........

I'd try cropping it down. You usually have some leeway when posting to the web. There's a loy of negative space in those shots which diminish the impact of the lightning.

I haven't had success in capturing lightning yet, so I'm jealous :)

The original idea was to crop right to the bolt! But I loved the lighting effect on the sky! so I just left it that way.

I was expecting on this opportunity since I bought the camera. I was on the phone with my girlfriend and saw the bolts through the mirror on my room. I said to her "Kiss you good bye" and hung up LoL. She called me right back asking if I was crazy or mad at her, then I said "no, it's just that the sky looks amazing with all those lightning bolts. I have to shoot it! Bye again, call u back when I'm done" and hung up on her again LoL. It was funny! I found it kinda easy to shot them. Just wasn't that lucky, cz there were lots of clouds. Just set the exposure long enough and u're good (I tried 5s to 30s, on diff shots).

Buy one of those rockets that u can wire to the ground, and then fire it. Have the camera ready, cz it's sure gonna strike one down LoL!
