I'm taking a trip to Ireland and London in a couple weeks, backpacking and staying in hostels along the way. I think it will be a great opportunity for some really good pictures, but I'm sure that I won't be at my most responsible while over there, being the alcohol connoisseur that I am. (That and we are going for St. Patty's Day.) So, does anyone know of a good short term insurance for damage/theft/accidental loss? I will only need it for around two weeks.

Do you own a home?.....most of the time homeowners insurance will cover this.

Also, if you have renters insurance, you can insure it under that policy as well. I have all of my camera stuff insured for somethink like $60 a year through AAA.

I rent, but I do have renters insurance. I wasn't sure that they would cover this internationally. Thanks, I will check on that.

My homeowner's policy would not cover items taken out of the states. We looked into it when my daughter took my laptop with her for a semester of study in Europe.

Exactly what dartompkins said....I think most insurance companies call it a personal articles policy. You just have to already have homeowners/renters insurance. Have fun in Ireland!

Just beware that if you make part of your income from photography, your homeowner's insurance will probably not cover any losses of your camera gear.
