I keep hearing everybody talk about these "writing pads" for photoshop. For more control when editing. Where can I get them?

Man you have to have a serial port for these things. I have one, but surprised they have went another route yet. Not a bad price. Thanks
Oops just saw the USB ones.

The real question should be "how soon can I get one?" : )
Even a small, inexpensive(?) one will make a big difference if you do much retouching, masking, or artistic painting-like work. They are also one of the most ergonomic input devices if you have any concerns about repetitive motion injury.
When you are ready to drool (but not on the screen!) check out the Cintiq line from Wacom. |

The inexpensice Wacom tablet are less than the price of an additional lens though ... you were going to get at least a couple of lenses for the camera, right? Maybe "sacrifice" one of those for the tablet. |

Actually not in the budget. I sold my motorcycle. And am selling my Vintage Sunn Bass Amp to get this stuff. That puts total budget at $1300.00. And I need to by a new compact flash card.
Sounds like I'm selling my soul.

James, I don't know anything about that brand, but the tablet is pressure sensitive, which is very good.
A piece of very personal opinion: I have a small wacom tablet, and I would not want anything bigger. Because of the way I move my hand when writing/drawing, I am most comfortable working with a small area rather than having to travel over a larger one.
Personally, the one you sent the link for, I would find too big.
I know that some others would disagree with me. Just take a pen and paper, and try to figure out what size area YOU would be comfortable with.
Have fun

If you really want the camera now, then pass on the tablet for a while, unless you are seriously planning to do photo restoration or other editing-intensive work. If you want to put off the camera for a "few months" then maybe get the tablet in the meantime. |

James, I would like to suggest the following steps to you:
1) read up about tablets and their crucial compenents (e.g. pressure sensitive or not), start with wacom.
2) take a piece of paper and a pen to figure out if you feel more comfortable with big, long sweeping motions, or small, precise limited ones. I don't think there is a right and wrong here, only personal preference
3) make up your mind re your needs
4) find out the recommended retail price for what YOU want to buy
5) find a much better price for that item by chasing around.
A small tablet will be a wonderful thing to have, but only if you can still afford the camera which is way more important. |
