Personally I like three than two...I know what you was going for on the first shot and the abandoned bicycle looks great but the pole running the full height of the shot seems over bearing and distracting to me.

Great Photos...

I agree with VisiBlanco. Three is my favorite, however....if the bike had been leaning up against a fencepost or something I would have goen for number one as my favorite. The pole is just too large.

BTW, great shots.

They seem sort of arbitrary to me; I get neither a sense of conenction to the space, nor a sense of involvement with the elevator. In other words, they're not wide enough, or tight enough, speaking in gross generalities. Step back and shoot this thing lost int he prairie? Or step up and show me its age, the ravages of time on it?

I love those Dakota structures...... undoubtedly very unique historic buildings. Your take seems to be a documentation of them, which is good, I expect that this kind of commercial building will become rare in the future. Bear Music has a point..... viewed from a distance (if possible and still isolate them) provides some environment that also adds to some of the character inherent in what these were made for, how they were approached and used. Superior architectural subjects. Here is a recent view of a grain storage structure that I took. This one is in Wisconsin and is only a few years old. grain storage structure

Brian I love 'em. I don't get this kind of scenery around here and they give me a real sense of the atmosphere of the area. I have driven through outback Australia and they remind me of the really small country towns with populations of 150 people. The shot with the bicycle is beautiful. If they were in your portfolio here I would select them as favourites. Beautiful Images. Thanks for posting them.

I love the first one. The bike gives it a human feel and the whole sensation is that of midwest desolation which is something that's always intrigued me. The fall of the industrial revolution. I really love the tones too. Stark to match the emotion.
