Is anyone using that lens here?

I'm going to buy a new lens and can't decide if it will be Nikon 18-70mm F3.5-4.5 or Nikon 17-55mm F2.8 or perhaps the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8

If anyone has the 17-55 do you then think it is worth what it cost. I can afford the price of it but don't want to spend all that money if the pictures from the cheaper lenses are just as good.

I also have to consider the weight of each lens since I'm into mountaineering and I plan to use that lens as the only lens when hiking.

The lenses I'm using now are: 12-24mm f4, 50mm f1.8 and 80-200mm f2.8 (all Nikon lenses). I also have 28-70mm f3.5-4.5 that I used with my film camera.
