What are your thoughts?
Is a pier or jetty considered to be a bridge? Something that is linking a solid object (the ground) to a movable object such as a boat?

In my opinion I'd probably say no, otherwise you might as well include board walks etc as such!

I agree with Gurilla, a bridge gets you from a to b past or over some obsticle. a pier or jetty or wharf does't

I think the description is pretty loose and you are bridging something with a pier or jetty.

But will the voters see it that way?

No, most voters wont even read the description. :)

If it aint crossing something, it aint a bridge.

haha, Gurilla, I had been in the same dilemma until recently.
There are no good looking/exciting bridges near by so I thought taking a picture of a pier could work out.

Drove all the way to the shore to take pictures, possibly for the challenge.
Had some really good results, but nothing really fit the challenge so I decided it's best not to submit.

As Defined:
A structure spanning and providing passage over a gap or barrier, such as a river or roadway.

But we all know that a bridge can mean a lot more that the typical brige that most of us think of. I think the main point is that "it gives one passage over a gap or barrier", now pick the subject.
