Some people have been asking about this. Here's one (mediocre composition but technically OK) shot I took last weekend with the 70-200 F4L and 1.4x teleconverter. This is the first (not II) TC, without the weather sealing.

ISO 400, wide open (f/5.6) at 280mm. 100% crop on the right. Again, no post at all, straight from the camera other than a bicubic resize in PhotoShop CS for the full-frame shot.

As you can see, it's pretty good. The only performance difference is the loss of one stop and slightly slower autofocus. I don't notice a real difference in image quality.

Great Shots!!

That's a pretty drastic difference.

OK, not sure if you're understanding. The image on the right is just a crop of the one on the left, displayed at 100% (no resizing). This isn't being compared to anything so there is no 'difference' to be had. It's the same shot.

That is one clean lens. The 100% crop is so clear and sharp. I have to save $$ for a good glass!

What shutter speed was this at?

That's certainly a crisp shot!
