My friend Dan's son was kill in a plane crash during a military training exercise in 2002. Dan has no photos of his son (ex-wife problems) his wife and step daughter have located some on the internet and have asked me to print them for Dan as a Valentine's Day gift. The problem is -- the are so small and the resolution isn't great. How do I make them look nice? This is really important.

Thank you for any and all help with this -- Debi

Why not contact the webmaster of that site and get the original files sent to you? It would be much better than working with the mini versions on the actual site.
I'm sure they'd be more than willing to help if you explained the situation.

I tried a Google Image search but didn't find the photos. I thought if they were on google then they might be higher res. I think "thatcloudthere" probably has the best idea.
Where were the pictures taken? All the hardware in the background is Soviet. |

Is there anyway you can contact the ex-wife and tell her that you would like to do this for her as well if she wanted? There were some great shots on the poster at the funeral.

Have tried to e-mail the person who did the poster of the funeral -- the email address is no longer current. That bottom photo of Dan at the casket still makes me cry. The estrangement between Dan and his ex-wife has spilled over onto the relationship with Shane's widow and I wouldn't know how to contact her.
Which is why I need help with this. I'm kind of stuck with the photos on the web site. Any suggestions?

Click the home button and about half way down is the contact webmaster button. Have you tried that one? How about friends of Shane who might be around still?

Based on the original post, I'd think twice about contacting the ex-wife until you've exhausted all other avenues. I'll third the idea of contacting the webmaster. Also, has anyone tried contacting the members of his squadron (or whatever)? They may have some pics with him in it. |

Check this out
This is about a program that can help you take a low/medium resolution shot to a high.

Sent an e-mail to the web master pleading for jpg files, haven't heard anything back. The good news is that is the only e-mail address that hasn't bounced back. Thanks for the link on the resolution program. I'll check that out.

Try to contact some of the people he served with if you can. They will have photos of him.

Fred Miranda's "Stair Inerpolation", a photoshop plugin, does a better job than Genuine Fractals and at a fraction of the cost; $19.99. It is almost miracuolous how well this (and indeed Genuine Fractals as well) works. I believe you can do a perfectly decent job with the images on the website, using this plugin.

Good luck!
