I'm wondering because I'm considering buying the Minolta A200 as a step-up from what I have now (Canon A300, ok, so the Minolta is many steps up).
But someday, when I get the money, I am hoping to get a Canon SLR. I want to get lenses for the Minolta and filters, so I can try new things, but am wondering if I can save money and just buy Canon lenses. I should probably have looked this up before asking about it, but I'm too tired to think that far ahead. |

The Kodak DSLR cameras have Canon EF Mounts, at least the models I have read about. I also understand that some manufacturers make a Canon and a Nikon mount version of the same lense and I seem to recall (could be wrong) that some cameras are also made in multiple versions that are identical, save for the lense mount and each is capable of handling either Canon or Nikon or (Insert Manufacturer of Choice) lense units. |

I'm not sure what you are asking--the Minolta A200 is a fixed-lens camera. You can't buy any other lenses for it. You can buy filters, though--not lenses. |

As Zal said it's a fixed lens camera but you can save some money in the long run (if indeed you decide to go to a non-fixed lens camera) by buying larger filters and using a step-down ring. The A200 has a 49mm filter thread while most lenses you're likely to purchase for a Canon SLR are much larger. If you plan ahead you can buy one filter and use it now and later as well.

Do Canon lenses fit non-canon cameras? |
No. Not in the way you are asking. As stated earlier, there is only one camera made by anyone other then Canon that will take a Canon lens and that is the Kodak DCS SLR/c.

Thanks guys! I searched around again, and decided my money may be better spent on the Nikon 8700. More options, lighter camera, and more of what I want in the long run.
I'll be sure to look more carefully at lense options from now on. Thanks again! |
