| hey Leaf, looks good but was taking forever to load so I closed it before I saw any of your work. Just a note, having your menu at the top makes your site easier for search engines to find (I think). |

Your pictures take incredibly long to load, even more as they are quite small. What did you do to get such huge file sizes?

I liked the layout fine, but wonder if folks who don't have their monitors calibrated properly might miss out on the very dark links on black background.
I think the biggest problem, as others have mentioned, is the time that it took to load the photos. I'm on cable internet and had to wait roughly 30 seconds for the two photos in art projects to load. And when they loaded, they were quite small. I'm guessing you are going to lose a lot of viewers this way...people don't want to wait that long.

You probably need to "resample" the photos that you've shrunk to fit on the page.
From Front Page, click on each photo, once it is the size you want it displayed at. Then click the "Resample" button on the picture toolbar (it's a picture frame with arrows pointing in on the four corners). Notice the before and after values of the "Estimated Time to Download" information on the bottom right.
Warning - you can't upsize after you've done this, at least without picture degradation. |

10 secs to load the index page, 12 secs per image thereafter (Mac OS X, Safari, cable).

i think part of the speed issues might be from the way the thumbnails, not only fade in, but the way they are highlighted after they fade in.
ie: the white border, and brightening seems to take a long time.
i noticed this on Konadors' site as well.

| It still seems pretty slow at my end and I have a very fast interent connection here. I also use simpleview for my Photo A Day and each Image is about 150KB and I have no issues like I see here what so ever. For my Thumbs thou I have the images shrunk down to only 1KB if that helps. |
