I'm off to the East coast of South Korea for a few days, thanks to the Lunar New Year celebrated in Asia.
Can someone please tell me how to picture sunrises over the ocean. I'm told this particular spot has magnificent views and I just don't want to waste the opportunity by experimentation, hit-or-miss kind of efforts. I will also shoot some pics in the snowy mountains, tips will really be appreciated.

You should ask Zoomdak--seeing as how he lives right on the ocean and that he has a lot of experience with those kinds of shots. That's great that you get this opportunity!

Kamsa,
Learn to use the exposure lock on your rebel, and point it at something in the mid-grey range to set the exposure, then swing up to include the sky to shoot. Or use manual exposure, of course. Your big worry is underexposing the dark areas as the brightness around where the sun is/will rise forces you into underexposure. By all means, bracket heavily so you are sure of the best exposure.
Be sure also not to spend all your time looking at the actual sunrise; many times the most beautiful things are happening behind you, or to one side, where the light of the sunrise is hitting the landscape or seascape.
If you will have seascapes, consider taking a 4x neitral density filter so you can take long exposures and get that misty sea effect also.
Have a good trip!
