Since I take a ton of photos I have to transfer files to CD alot. Anyways, I went to print out pictures from a CD that contains my daughter's photos and I got an error saying "Not a valid jpeg file"
What can I do. I tried opening file with several differnt programs. It has jpeg in the name.
I would really appreciate any help or even a suggestion on where I should look for help. I used Roxie Easy CD creator to put files on CD, should I contact them???

What kind of file extension is currently on the file that is on the CD?
Are they .jpg or something else?
I'm not sure how Roxio creates data backups. Not sure if they have their own file naming convention.
Which applications have you tried to open the file?
The only suggestion that I can provide is to save the file to your hard drive, rename the file and make sure the extension is .jpg
If that doesn't work, try changing the extension to .bmp or .tiff , then try opening the file. |

First thing I would do is make sure you can get the images off the CD. CDs aren't forever and can fail even with good care.

If you used a Roxio drag to disc program to create the CD, that CD will only work on a computer that has Roxio software. You can buy or download Roxio software, or go to a computer that has Roxio software and "close" the disc so it can be read by any computer. |

First of all thanks for all who responded to my post.
After I was done going nuts, I calmed down and realized that I give my mom a copy of all my CD's with my daughter's photos on it. I just ran (well drove) to her house and got it and they are fine.
FYI- I am pretty sure I don't have to use a computer that has Roxio to open the photos. The only reason I say this is because I have given out CD's to 30+ different people and have never had someone complain they couldn't open the CD.
Not sure what went wrong here. Suggestion to everyone (something I didn't do) is after you do the backup go into the CD and make sure you can access the files, just because they show up on there doesn't mean you can read them.
Also, if important files like mine, make additional copy and store at another place, like family's home, lock box.
I have learned my lesson- luckyily the easy way.
Thanks again, for responding so quickly. I was hoping that in a couple hours time people hadn't wasted time checking this out. |
