Greetings,

I am looking to purchase an L-Bracket for my 20D for easier switching to portrait mode plus the added stability the L-Bracket provides.

I really only see two out there from a quick search:

Kirk Photo L-Bracket, $179.95
Really Right Stuff L-Bracket, $160.00

Two questions:

1) Anyone know of any alternative vendors I might have missed?
2) Does anyone already have one of these two brackets and care to share their opinion of them?

I use a Newton Di400Cr (Newton's website) $209.95 USD at B&H.

I use the one by Manfrotto. Since I have the joystick head for my tripod it comes in very handy for switching from portrait to landscape and vice versa.

If I recall correctly the cost was around $150 CDN at Henry's.

Would you have a link or part number by chance? I am trying to locate this item on Manfrotto's and B&H's site and coming up empty.

I think the Kirk and the RRS are the best made out there, and a bit expensive too. I went with RRS products. I dont have the L plate but I do have the bottom plate for the 20D as well as a plate for the 70-200L.

I purchased a Stroboframe flash bracket from National Camera a few years ago, very happy with it. (If I recall it was about $80.00) Here is a link showing how it is used (can be quickly flipped from landscape to portrait, and has a tripod mount on the bottom of it. Check it out.

341 Elbow Bracket is all it says on the box. I hope that helps.

I think the $150 was for my macro rails and this rang in at about $80 CDN. That seems about right looking at the US price at B & H.

After some deliberation, I ended up going with the L-Bracket from Really Right Stuff. It arrived today, and I am very pleased with the quality and fit. Just thought I would complete this thread :-)
