Okay, so this wasn't really a serious attempt at a pet photo. I just caught this by chance and thought it was hilarious :) I'd like feedback, though.

Everybody was kat-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightning
But they fought with expert timing

They were funky China men from funky Chinatown
They were chopping them up and they were chopping them down
It's an ancient Chineese art and everybody knew their part
From a feint into a slip, and kicking from the hip

Pity about the lack of separation of cat from background. If you added the background because what was there was distracting, consider alternatives...
Cute pose though...

Humm.. are the highlights in the black cat fur not showing for you? That's too bad. The black is how it looked, there were just a couple of spots where things showed a little that I darkened. The photo's just a snapshot that I took while the kittens were playing with a dangling toy, so there was no chosen backdrop or good lighting - just some space in the living room and camera flash :) I did manually focus though, amazing it turned out so clear. That cat moves around a LOT :) |

Moca,
For me, just the slightest hint of those highlights. And this is a calibrated, high-end graphic arts monitor. In this area of rendering "black-on-black" we're all at the mercy of peoples' monitor setups, there's no telling how it will come across to any individual. It's one reason dark pictures don't typically score well in challenges, I think.

Great kitty picture. Every little white hair is perfectly defined against the dark background and the intentness of the cat's eyes shows through beautifully. I just calibrated my ancient flatscreen monitor so I see the highlights in the black fur pretty well. (But, then, I'm not in Bear Music's league.) |
