Hey guys, need some suggestions. My company is holding a huge seminar at the Hyatt here in Atlanta. Registration and dinner tonight; breakfast, seminar, lunch, seminar, dinner, drinks tomorrow; then breakfast and seminar Friday, ending at noon. All of this will be inside the hotel, a couple hundred people. I've been asked to shoot it (in addition to being a seminar attendant, expected to learn from it as well!!)
What's the best way to shoot this? Obviously I'll need good shots of the speakers on stage, shots of the crowd intently listening and reacting, plus folks having fun at meals and drinks. I'm expecting huge rooms full of crowded tables with low light. Sounds kinda like a wedding reception. Too bad I've never shot one ;)
Would I be keeping my 18-70mm kit lens on most of the time and just try to get right on top of people, or should I use the 70-210 (slower lens)? I'll be using my SB-800 speedlight. Handheld with higher ISO? I'm thinking I should take the tripod but not sure if that's more hassle than it's worth. I'd like to be in some of the posed group shots myself, so the tripod and remote would come in handy :)
Anyone who has shot in a similar situation? Any tips?
