I think I know what you are doing wrong. Maybe. Are you opening the image in the file viewer? That only looks like a rough of the raw. It will look chunky. Download the raw image onto the computer without coverting it, then open it in PS cs.

And a pointer, if you are going through the trouble of capturing your images in the raw format then it might be wise to save the resulting images as TIFFs not JPEGs.
