I have heard alot of angst about critiques since I have been on this site. There is alot of mention of people being rude in there comments of mean. So I wen't reading through my critiques and looked for the least flattering critique I could find. I was wondering if a few of you might be willing to critique my critique and tel me if you feel this is to blunt or cruel. What would your opinion be if you had received this critique...
Comment:
ok this was my lowest scoring photo and I feel I owe it to you to at least explain why I feel this challenge. First it looks like a photo of a carpet with a tiger on it. I would Have prefered a less flat image. Brokeh the only subject matter is the background and it being out of focus definately does not enhance the image. I have no clue what or why the red lights are so overpowering. They seem to serve no purpose, and do not flatter or enhance the tiger in the background. I don't intend to be insulting but if a low score is given I feel I should atleast try to explain my reasoning.

| Your comment was as appropriate and thoughtful as any I've read on this site. Don't worry about pleasing everyone with your comments, it'll never happen. If the photographer can't stomach a little thoughtful criticism, then they'll never learn to become better through the eyes of others. |

Your comments were an honest appraisel and that is all you can do.
You have used the correct approach by simply explaining what you like and dislike. |

I didnt have a problem with the comment. I went wayout on this one. Personally I like the shot, knew it wouldnt score well. I guess I look at the score two ways. 1) the shot didnt go over well with the majority, 2) on the other hand 30% of the voters rated it 5 and higher. My bio says it all. "Its all in the eye of the beholder". KEEP THE COMMENTS COMING!
I'd should had entered this one.

I have to agree ace I like the second one a whole lot better. I hope you didn't mind me dragging your shot out in the spotlight for a bit. I felt that it was probably the least encouraging one that I had written. I am glad to hear that you didn't take it badly.
