Wouldn't it be wonderful if you received as many votes during a challenge as there are submissions in the challenge?

Alas... I had high hopes that the Best of 2004 challenge, with a 2-week voting period, would finally see that happen. But as it sits right now, I've only received 346 votes and only 503 views, for a challenge that has 531 submissions.

OR... is everyone just waiting until the last minute to vote??? ;-)

(hoping to apply a little peer pressure to get out the vote)

I find it interesting that people submit photo's and expect others to vote on their photo, but they do not take the time to vote themselves.

I am not sure I would want people voting who are pushed into doing it. For myself I try to cast more votes then I receive and give more comments then I receive, if everyone did this there would be a lot more votes and a lot more comments. But I can well understand those people that have dialup not wanting to vote on every photo, there are just getting to be too many of them.

I agree. I'm a dial-up user myself (26.4 is my top speed). That's why I really liked the idea of a 2 week voting period for this one. I managed to get through all of the photos and even left comments on about 10% of them.

But what if you don't have the time to vote??? I have tried to comment on all of the best of 2004 but found time to comment AND vote on 27% I wish I had more time to vote on all the photos.

I would say vote first comment later. It's not paying justice to the great photos you didn't vote on.

You can always go back and comment.

I don't like seeing when people enter without voting....

at least I have as many views as there were entries :

Votes: 343
Views: 568

I'm still waiting for the other 200 people who entered to vote :)

I think one of the biggest problems is the amount of challenges going on during the month of January 2005. If you took all challenges that either voting started or stopped during January you would find that we had a total of 12 challenges and a total of 2864 entries. That a lot to vote on even though some do lap over in to Dec. 2004 and Feb. 2005 on voting.
I try my best to vote on as many as possible but time wise with that many challenges and entries its hard too and I'm on high speed. So I know the users that are on dial up are feeling the pain.

Voting fiarly on 500 entries is an awful lot more time consuming than taking one photograph - even than taking one photograph for a challenge. Be happy that your image has been looked at 500 times.

It might not be "paying justice" but aren't comments more helpful then a vote with no comment???
