Just got back from a great photo road trip (1000 miles in a day and a half, great fun).

Somewhere along the line, my camera started inserting these neat little blurs that are in the same place on every shot. I use two different lenses (very clean lenses, I checked) and the spots are still in the same place. Is this on the sensor? What can I do to clean THAT?

Any input is very appreciated.

It sounds like you have sensor dust. Do a search on the forums for sensor cleaning and there is sound good info.

Sounds like you have a dust spec problem.Try a shot of a white card or a nice blue sky with the lense off,I read that if you shoot a small aperature it shows up more defined. Not sure if it is on the mirror or sensor? can you lock up the mirror and shoot? that would help to dismiss dirt on the mirror.A standard puffer brush may shift it,I pull of the brush end and hold the camera upside down, then puff away, may work.
Sensor cleaning isn't that difficult if you have to do it, just do a quick search in the forums, hope you solve it,
Paul.
Just make sure your batteries are fully charged if you insert anything inside the camera whilst cleaning.

If the dust is on the mirror, why would it show up on the image? Doesn't the mirror flip up when an exposure is made anyway? It certainly does in a film SLR...

That dust is not on the mirror if it appears on the image. It is on the sensor behind the mirror.

You can take the mirror up through a menu selection on D70.

Then you have to clean the sensor as someone said. Be careful so you will not damage it and use some proper methods (wich I don't know well enough)

You need to clean your sensor. I recommend the Copperhill Method. Read this, then order the cleaning kit. When it comes, read this again before cleaning.

Very important for a steady hand! :)
But Smirnof is rubbish, Stolichnaya is much better. Unfortunately I have run out of my genuine 1.50 USD a bottle Petersburg stock. ;(
Moskovskaya is also reasonable, but Stolichnaya is the best.

Seriously, my addition to this sensor cleaning stuff:
