The one on the left ,I have never seen one that looked like this before down at the pond .

National Audubon says, Wood DucK (Aix sponsa) A beautiful crested, multicolored duck. Male patterened in iridescent greens, purples and blues with a disticnctive white chin patch. Range: from British Colombia to California Maontana to Novia Scotia. Winter near Pacific Coast. Absent from Rocky Mts. and Great Plains.
