Hi! While I'm still hibernating, I had a friend come over. These shots were last minute improvisation. What do you think?

Simon - I really don't feel qualified to comment but here goes. I like number 1 the best. Good pose, light seems better with less wash out. The second one seems a little to wahed out to me (maybe my monitor?) and the third just does not seem to be a good perspective. Maybe if shot from lower? All in all though I think they are pretty good, better than I would do.

Where these hot lights or were they strobes? Just asking because the lights look too hot/harsh. #1 is the best IMO. #2 would have been better without the bra showing and the lights are WAY to hot. #3 could use some editing to hide the moles/freckles. Hope this helps.

Very nice shots, but in No.1 the feet near the camera create some odd dimensions. They look bigger than her head! Seriously!

LOL... She was concerned about that too! I guess it takes a woman to understand another!

Actually, the only light here is the natural afternoon winter light that came through my window. The second one is great (the pose) unfortunately, I had to photoshop it to retrieve some facial contrast... As for the bra, I couldn't get her to remove it today.

But thanks for the comments. I always appreciate it.

Simon

The problem with #1, I'd wager, is you used a wide angle lens. SInce the camera is close to the subject, parts of the subject closer to the camera look unnaturally large. I'd guess you used a slight WA in #3, also. Light distorts neat the edge of the lens. Use a slight telephoto for portraits.

#2's OK. Good angle and pose. Face is washed out.

Simon,
I think #2 is a great image. The location of the intense white areas add an interesting intensity to the image. I think there are times when extreme highlights or shadows add to an image's impact. This, for me, is one of them.

Thanks Kieran!

Here's another not too bad shot.

I reckon this is on the same level as #2. The composition is powerful and creates a sort of tension or uneasiness. The blurred face, adds to the uneasiness in that its difficult to concentrate on her face even though the composition draws my eye there. This image looks like an "uneasy" version of a common "seductive" type theme. I really like it man.

The last post is my favorite one. I like the tones with the shadows, the pose, and the jeans undone is pretty cool.

Bump! For those on the other side of the planet or the ones that go to bed late on our side!

What do you guys think of this edit of the first one? For those who read my bio and know I'm colour-blind, feel free to let me know what you think of the colour filter I used. Thanks!
