I found this quote and I had to use it in a picture. I didn't know what I was going to do when I started and it kinda turned into a photoshop project. Let me know what you cats think.

great picture, great idea, but the words look to "guady" hope I spelt that rite ! try using a different font.

I love the picture but dont particularly care for that font. Maybe a more 'classy' font would look better. I guess it has a lot to do with personal taste but fonts i think might look good with this are ARDS1, Arial, Century Gothic and Microsoft Sans serif.

You need some nice freehand, something thin and eloquent. the way it is now the text takes awy from the pic, which I have already complamented on.

Here are some examples of fonts I'd try if I were working on this ... I think they come with most Windows installations -- I don't remember installing them specially.

I don't have any of those fonts, where do you get them

//www.free-fonts.com/

There are others: google "free fonts"

I think I would put the first M in a large fancy font with curls and such then the rest in a classy one from the Gereral's list...like the Tiranti Solid or even Smudger. And maybe leave Victor's name smaller than the rest and right justified....Otherwise very nice

ok, here is outake number two. I changed the quote, this one is my own. I have made this into more a series than just an indiviual photo. Let me know what you think.

That's a pretty nice arrangement (pun intended).

The Victor Hugo quote is much more interesting because it has an interesting layer to it; yours says "Music does what words cannot" but begs the question what this is. The Hugo quote answers that elliptically, by appending the concept "but must be said."

Strong vote here for the full Hugo quote.

I second that vote.
I liked the original quote much better, although the second photo arrangement is great.

Pardon me for being picky, but the music you've chosen is for G-clef only. I don't think I'm the only piano player who will notice that. Also, is it excercises for the right hand or an arrangement for some other, one-note instrument?

Technically, the photos are nice. I like the second layout better, but (and pardon the pun please) the scale of the subjects in the photos to each other bothers me--those are HUGE piano keys in relationship to the pages of music.

thanks for all the feedback, It's not piano music...I couldn't find any of that. My mother and I are both musicans and it's old flute music, I can play 14 different things, put sadly piano is not one of them. the pic is of a friends of the family's piano.

I think the quote thing is right on myself now that I think about it. I am going to change that tonight and repost it.

you guys are great, I love this website

Here's a quote to try...

Anything too stupid to be said is sung.

I think it would be fine to go ahead and use a photo of a flute or somethng then ... or go to the library and check out some piano music to photograph.

Also, the tenor of that quote sort-of implies "folk" music or music giving voice to "the people" and, as Tom Lehrer said, "... should be accompanied on a folk instrument, in which category the piano does not, alas, qualify. So imagine, if you will, that I am playing an 88-string guitar!"

(From the intro to The Folk Song Army)

ok, I think this one is really my final product from this series. I don't know why but I have really taken to these pictures. Mabey I'm maturing as a photographer becasue before I would have made the first one and moved on, but for some reason I really just became dedicated to this series...and my teachers at school really like that I am starting to do that. sorry for the rambaling thought, here is the pic

thanks, there is something to be said for people like you. Without all the postive "you can do it" kind of people on this site I don't think I would be as addicited. I think my next series I am going to base around something I write myself about that idea. I love how photographers here understand my art, something I really wish my girlfriend would understand more of. I am also a writer, so I think I am going to step out and try to encorperate the two of them.

again thanks, and my next series in going to be dedicated to you bear music

lol, yes I am only 17...but my best friend is my grandfather and I grew up with him by my side the whole time. He really is the reason why I started photography, and he is also the reason why I have marlin monroe pin ups in my locker (that my girlfriend bought for me *cha-ching*)
