Oh really? From this thread? I was gone all day/night so apparently I missed the really juicy stuff!

See what happens when you start something and thern run off schmoting about... You miss all the people wanting signed pictures of you scantily clad.

I'd be happy just to have a headshot so when you're famous, I can have it appraised on Antiques Roadshow for some serious money.

Ok, let's say for example you 'are' one of the ignorami. Telling you won't do a thing.People, as a rule can't be 'taught' unless they're open to learning. And you're right, who should, credibly, set you straight?

What I'm suggesting, instead, is to focus on the work, the best work, if and when we recognize one. When we reward a 10, say, to an image because of an infectiously extraordinary charge beyond that of other images which 'can be expected to be known', our comments should be an attempt to formulate why we feel this way. Pertinent facts and characteristics of the photo should, IMO, be addressed as much as the context of such traits.

Instead of engaging in the futile task of correcting errors, being indignant about prejudice and the expression of 'poor taste', we could, more effectively attempt to show what it is better and, perhaps, articulate why this is so.

Interesting concept and I think that your point has some merit. I have a habit of commenting on the top pix and the bottom ones. I feel an obligation to justify my low marks and maybe this is a futile effort. By this I'm saying that the commitment in unilateral. I'm suggesting that in many cases, the "low-scoring" photo is a low effort submission that gets alot more attention in the voting arena than was ever given in the creation process. Why acknowledge, validate and in some cases, nurture these non-efforts. The whole heap of midrange scoring photos go unanswered because I have wasted my time on pictures that were never given decent effort in the first place. I'll try this from now on; the bottom shots will get answered with a simple grade. If the photgrapher wish to get clarification, they may do so by sending me a PM. Otherwise, I'll expend my time on more worthy submissions.

Thanks Zeus......you're a god!

There is a fine line between not thinking enough and thinking outside the box.

Who cares if we don't see the throat! Point out the bad focus, the light, composition... But Jeez... Do we have to be so obvious?

By the way... I tought it was allright considering the title and the context... I gave it a 6! :p

I have to be honest, I gave it a 3.... now had this kid been in the act of cramming a hotdog down for lunch, then maybe a 4 or 5....

That's what I was thinking, but lets not get into that again! They'll start erasing all our posts again!
