Tonight I will be observing a demo about the White balance in cameras.
Heres a question I am after any thoughts on this?

My question .... How does the white balance affect the colors in a photograph
and why does it enhance them?

Short answer: different kinds of light have different temperatures; the light in the shade under a tree is cooler than out in the sun for instance. The picture takes on a color-cast when the wrong WB is used; blueish with cooler light, reddish with warmer light. Setting, or correcting afterwards, the WB brings the colors back to where they should be.
