Rock,
I thought I had commented to that image; it's very nice. I like the motion blur very much. If only the bird were sharp as a tack it would be quite stunning, and it's still very nice.
In fact allt he bird pix here are very nice.
Robt.

a friendly FYI, you can tell bird sexes on species like nuthatches, jays, etc. only in the hand. I used to band birds, and it can be done only in breeding season when female have a brood patch or with measurements of body sizes/weights. Feathers on the belly are shed so the female can place feathers around the eggs and warm body right up to the eggs. But, some males have this too. Males can be sexed similarly with a coccial protuberance, a swelling of the male sex organs. Just some past knowledge comming out. Van

Here are two shots of a male bald eagle I took yesterday. I know, how can he tell if it is a male? This one was injured in a fight with another male and was being released after rehab.
edit: taken with a Tamron 28-300 at F6.3, 200 ISO, 1/320, at 170mm

Nice shots JB. I like the first one best, it shows the head in good light and very sharp.
