Hey folks, just got done messing with this shot.
1 layer contrast (for rocks)
1 layer curves (water)
1 layer dodging (water)
Not to bad if I ask myself which I did.

I think I like this B&W version better though.

and Neutral Density Filter will allow you to keep the shutter open longer without getting blown highlights or any of those nasty side affects. Perfect for getting blurred water, but make sure you're mounted on a tripod. |

The water effect comes from a longer exposure. 1/2 second or longer. You may need a neutral density filter. That cuts the light going in to the camera allowing the longer exposure. Make sure you use a tripod. |

What kind of shutter speed are we talking about? and would I need a nuetralizer to achieve a (good) soft water effect? |

I was on f/32 @ .77 sec (shutter priority gave that to me)
It's the slowest it would give me:(

Doing good, Rock. Real good. Keep practicing. PLay witht he blending modes and the opacity sliders for the different layers to see what they do.

Joe, I left a comment in the image. Very nice work. What blend mode do you have the copied layer set to?

What a pretty shot. I like the color version better, but I do think that one chunk of ice is a little too blueish or stands out. That's a bit nit picky though because the overall effect is lovely!

You might find this thread helpful. I'm still learning, but this got me started when nothing else seemed to make sense.
