I just started getting "Err 02" on my camera. It does not read any CF cards. Canon said I need to send it in for repairs. Canon rep said I should send my lens with it.
Did any of you who had your cameras serviced send your lens with the camera? It just sounds a bit strange to me.

Hold the phone.
The Err 02 is a CF error, your lens shouldn't enter into it.
First, try formatting all your CF cards. Power your camera off then back on, and put one of the CF cards back in. If you still get the same error, the problem is most likely your CF card reader in your camera, in which case you will need to send the camera in for service. I recommend Strauss Photo-Technical Services in Washington DC. They are a Canon factory authorized repair center, and one of the largest servicers of photographic equipment in the US.
Best of luck,
Terry

Thanks, Terry, for the info.
I tried 4 different CF cards, but no luck. All cards are working fine in my other camera and CF card reader.
I'll try to contact Strauss.
Thanks again!

Look down the CF slot and see if you can spot a bent pin. You'll probably need a flashlight.

Well, that's how it started. I straightened the pin (I'll double check), and all of them look straight, CF cards seems to slide in and out normally. I think something shorted out.
I checked out Strauss, I may stop by there some day on my way from or to work.
Thanks!

how did the pin get bent initially?
hopefully it isn't too costly but curious of the results.

One thing to watch for when driving there -- the turn for Mt. Olivet Rd. is not marked. There's a cemetery on the corner where you need to turn.
