I took a semester of photo in school this year. I ended it yesterday and scanned in some of my work. This photo class was more based on learning the techniques of the darkroom as opposed to in-camera techniques, but it was a fun alternative to do in my world of digital. There is so much more room for error in film that it becomes almost a little scary. Sometimes we com;lain about malfunctions with digital, but it is a slap in the face when you realize that the malfunctions are actually in your brain or in your processes (who wudda thunk'it?!). So after screwing up some negative developments and after some heavy applications of nose grease, I've come up with a few photos from this semester. All comments and critiques are greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time and thoughts,
Lee

The 5th picture, Orchid, is easily my favorite of the bunch - but the rest are nice as well. Great job. |

I like the simplicity of the wheelbarrow picture. |

ahh...nothing like the smell of stop bath soaked fingers
I <3 B&W photography so i think im going to fail in giving you a subjective response...
however, it looks like there is some kind of lightsource in some of your prints coming off from the the top. are the lights in the darkroom to bright?

This might be due to the scanner actually.
There were two safelights in the darkroom and these were done on separate days so I'm not exactly sure what the problem is. I'll look into it though, thanks.

The two portraits are really good and I also like 'Abstract' a lot.

it's amazing the time frame between taking the photo, and viewing the photo. the darkroom smell is engrained in my head.
nice work - 'abstract' is very nice.

Vincent Versace says film is what you get on your teeth when you don't brush them... :) |
