Greetings,
I just found this shot on the web it's todays (Sat 1/22/05) POTD on another site and all I can say is WOW, for a totally unplanned event, the photog must have had excellent reactions!

Looks like someone is taking credit for a shot that isnt theirs. The EXACT same image is featured in the Feb 2005 issue of Popular Photography and Imaging on page 24. According to the magazine, it was shot by a Bennie Davis. It was shot at Mountain Home AFB in Idaho.

Or... it could be the other way around.

It's a picture of a shell. Did they remove the offending one?

The shot was of a USAF Thunderbird team pilot ejecting from his F-16 fighter jet as he was in a low level pass. The shot was taken from almost head on and you see the pilot jetting out of the aircraft just as the canopy is being blown off. A truly spectacular shot... but someone "borrowed" it.
