that's sure as hell faceless, but how will people react to the "normal human activity" part? It's avery artfully "contrived" image, a fine image, but I suspect the voters are gonna lean towards "candids without faces"...

I think you may be right there, Robert. Voters lean. :-/

IMO that photo would get a high mark, contrived or not... :)

I would've score it low for THIS challenge since I can see the faces of the people in the background... but GREAT picture otherwise!

You know the one challenge that I really wanted, that I had a fabulous idea for it. And it's for members.

Join.

I believe we still have a one-month "trial" membership for $5.

I will once I find a way to get a pen-pal account or convince my parents to buy me a membership.

If I were your parents, I'd have no problem paying a low $25/year fee for something that is constructive and you could learn from... hey, whatever keeps you out of trouble :)

I feel the same way about mine! I really like it, but I think that most voters will see it as not quite fitting the challenge where I really see it perfect for the challenge... I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Very close, but I would say it doesn't quite qualify as I don't see any "normal human activity" in here...

I submitted something else but was wondering what you all would have rated this if I would have entered it. this is my husband and son walking and talking about him going to Iraq. This is the day he delployed to Iraq (the 17th).

so what do you all think of the below shot?
01/22/2005 03:22:59 AM · #84
It is technically poor, with blown-out highlights and no truly dark tones, even where you'd expect them. The light flare on the left is very disconcerting. The cropping is way too tight on the bottom.

On the plus side, there's an eerie sense of :similarity" in the walks, which marks these two as father and son. I am sure the image is immensely satisfying to you, but as a challenbe entry it would finish in the bottom of the heap I think.

@ crystal
Ha ha, they are walking alike thats cute. Now I like high key shots, they are all over my portfolio so I cant complain about that but the blown out area on the left of the pic is the first thing I notice when I open it. Also the BG is not pleasant. I think a smaller dof would have been great.
On the plus side I looked in your portfolio and really liked your down the road pic.

A lot of people tell me how much they like my down the road picture. I've had 6 people locally purchase it.
