Once in a lifetime? I thought you were a Steeler fan?

The lifetime of a photographer is short, and oiften bitter. Especially a sideline photographer. He may get flattened by the Bus, after all. I was once hammered by Louie Kelcher (all 300+ pounds of him) and basically couldn't move for a week....

Yes. If I remember right that was the game the Eagles forgot to put their starters in because they were already assured a playoff slot. I don't think they will play that way in the Superbowl. |
Of course they won't play that way in the superbowl because they are not going to be in the superbowl. |

It seems to go in cycles. In the '70s and early '80s the AFC dominated with the Steelers, Dolphins, and Raiders. Then starting in '84 the NFC won 13 straight superbowls, and now it is the AFC back on top having won 5 of the last 7. |

The Steelers have already beat the Pats AND Eagles this season. Let's assume for the record that:
1) Any team can beat any other team on any given day.
2) Steelers, Eagles and Pats are all relatively close in talent.
Does anyone think the Steelers can possibly beat the other TWO best teams in the NFL in a row with everything on the line??
No. Not going to happen. Pats 27-17.

See how far the Patriots and the Eagels would have gone if they lost their QB in week 2. Oh yeah if my memory serves me right, didn't the Pat's lose to Miami? There is something to be proud of lol.

Injuries? Heck, we got wide receivers playing corner... not a bad job either. Oh and what happened the last time the Pats lost their QB in week 2? (Bledsoe's last scramble). If my memory serves me right, Brady got us the superbowl. GO PATS!!

Big deal ... the official NFL definition of cornerback is "wide receiver with bad hands."
By contrast, the 49ers had (car?) salesmen playing cornerback, hence that lovely 2-14 : )

Oh, as far as WRs playing CB, what about Pitt using a QB at WR and KR? I mean, c'mon, it's like SLASH all over again. Look, it's a reverse. No, it's a double reverse. Shit, there's a great QB with the ball in his hands throwing it downfield!
If Pitt wins, it will be on stupid trick stuff like Randel El playing Kordell Stewart.

The other night here in Boston, they had some video clips of Steeler fans out and about. My seven year old son said "Dad, those guys like the Steelers as much as we like the Patriots."
I looked over at the TV, and concluded that he was right. They (Steelers fans) are just as rabid, and just as ridiculous as we pats fans are. So, I offer the following wager to any rabid Steelers fans that are willing to put their pride behind their team:
If the Pats loose (unlikely as that is), I will go out and buy some Steelers gear and wear it to the Superbowl party I attend, I will cheer like a lifelong Steeler's fan during the game, and post a picture here on DPC. If the Pats win, any Steeler fan that takes the bet has to buy Patriots kit and cheer for the Pats at their bowl party (and Post a pic as proof here at DPC.)
Cutoff time for accepting is kickoff.
Any takers?
soccerdad
p.s. If it wouldn't "hurt" to wear the other guys colors to the Superbowl, you don't count as a worthy opponent in this wager. |

hrmm...It's getting close now -- 9 hours away. I say as long as Roethlisberger keeps his composure, we will do fine -- he has to remember what he said the other day "just throw -- don't aim, just throw".
Our defense has been a modern day 'steel curtain' so I don't really worry there. It seems even when our offense can't get it done, our defense steps it up a notch.
I predict things will go well for the steelers and they're going to pull out a monstrous victory...

Q. What's the plural of "dolphin fan"?
A. There isn't one. No need yet.

Also Big Ben needs to remember his comments about the gloves and he is going to try to go without them in the snowy conditions as they will add to the slipperiness of the ball. He also has to remember not to get upset and let his line do the work they are paid for. I think he can do it...he's had a week to shake off last week and learn from the Rookie mistakes.
I think it's going to be a close game and Steelers by a fieldgoal with less than 2 minutes in the game.

It's better than the other way around...and I do expect it to be a rather close game and a NAILBITTER to the end.

I'm here -- from the dungeons of Heinz Field! I came down early to get my laptop connected and to be sure I could connect to the Internet. It's DAMN cold, I must say... I have a bunch of hand/foot/body warmers, and I'll also be attaching a couple to the camera. Brrrr! |
