Wondering sould I purchase hard/soft case? What size medium or large? Who got a good website to buy? Much Thanks Rock

Pelican hard case of whatever size suits for transport and storage. But use a soft case and/or photographers vest in the field.

Go with the soft if you can. A good backpack is very easy to carry around and travel with and some of the better are waterproof and very impact resistant. I keep over 11,000 dollars worth of equipment in this and wouldn't flinch if I dropped the bag 15 feet onto the ground. The bag rides comfortably behind the seat of my truck without looking too conspicuous, fits nicely in the overhead of a plane, and is very comfortable as a backpack for those long treks.

It is very dust resistant (as I always seem to find my dirty little Bichon sleeping on it), waterproof, and holds a full size lens mounted camera body, an assortment of lenses and has a special compartment for a laptop that seems to take up no space at all whether it is being used or not.

PS (no, I do not own stock in Lowpro)

What do you need from the case?

Lightweight?
Easy to carry?
Strength and protection?
Waterproofing?

Here's my lineup:

Lowepro DryZone 200 - For hiking or the need to carry a lot of equipment

Domke F-3X Super Compact Shoulder Bag - Walking around / small outings & events

Pelican 1550 Hard Case - Storage, scenic driving trips, and safe transportation of my equipment

Both my backpack and hard case can easily handle all of my equipment equipment which includes the Canon 20D (w/ grip), Canon 1N (w/ grip), Canon 50mm f/1.4, Canon 70-200mm f/2.8, Canon 17-40mm f/4, Canon 550ex flash + sync cord + diffuser, film and digital media, and filters. The shoulder bag can handle a body, 2 lenses, and a notebook.
