Can we actually see the individual scores we are getting as the voting takes place ? eg how many 5's 6's &7's etc or whatever ? I've noticed people saying they have gone from getting 7's to 3's even 1's. Didn't think you could view that info. I'm just going off the average on the home page. I thought the break up of scores was only viewable after the challenge is over :-) |

You can't see individual scores. People that say they get 1's or 10's or whatever are just taking an educated guess because they are tracking their scores everyone 30 seconds (or so) and are keeping tallies and spreadsheets to see the changes.

You can if you use a program to do the math for you such as excel. But if more than 1 vote comes in before you update then you will only know the average vote.
Believe me when I say this, I use to check mine all the time - not anymore it will cause nothing but headaches. You will never understand peoples voting differences.

thanks guys and I agree SDW65 you'll only get headaches updating your score all the time. My best of 2004 photo I liked alot better than recent challenge submissions I've entered and they have scored a lot higher than this...I'm left scratching my head ! I was thinking twice about entering this one ! |

The only way to know what scores you are getting is to keep track of your score for each time there is a new vote, then it is pretty simple. Say you have 1 vote and your score is a 6, well then you know you got a one 6 vote. Now say you have two votes and your score is a 5.5, well now you know that you have one 6 and one 5. If you see your vote count go up by one and you know what the average vote was before you can figure out what that one vote was. There are some that have written small programs to keep track of their scores so that they don't have to keep hitting the update button, and then there are those who just love to hit the update button, we all do but many won't admit to it. |

When I have time to kill, I keep two Explorer windows open with DPC running, and it is easy math (with a calculator, that is) to calculate my latest vote so long as there has only been a single vote cast between updates. Here's how:
Multiply the number of votes by the avg. vote, and round to the nearest place. Example: 20 votes cast, times average vote of 5.0000, = 100. Then do that again with the updated score: 21 votes cast, times average vote of 5.0952 = 106.9992, and round up to 107.
You can determine the value of the last vote cast by the difference between the first and second multiplications, that is in this case, between the 100 and 107. That vote was a 7.
By the way, I recently suggested that DPC show the last 5 votes cast in the window like this:
Votes: 238
Views: 311
Avg Vote: 5.3950
(5,4,4,5,6)
Favorites: 0
Wish Lists: 0
but got no favorable responses. Still think it's a good idea, since nearly everyone seems to be interested in that info. Anyway, until that day comes, the above method works without too much trouble.

Thanks for the input and I like your idea with the last 5 votes being recorded - shame you didn't get a response :-) |
