I set out to comment on every image in the best of challenge. So far I've done 98 and (after two hours) fatigue has set in. I think I'm going to have to put it down and come back tomorrow.

Who knows - with a full two week voting period I might even get it done.

I'm kind of regretting not submitting anything, but on the bright side I won't be handing out any of those 'my score is plummeting and I'm pissed' 1's people complain about :).

Lol.. well, I hope you accomplish what you're setting out to do. Me? No way I can comment on that many entries. I'm not even going to try.

I look forward to seeing one from you though!

I admire oyu for oyur desire to comment on all the photos...

I can never do it. I already set out to do it before, but sometimes, I open an image and stare and I have absolutely nothing to say!

I look forward to reading your comment.

Wow, samtrundle, that IS an ambitious goal. I have a more modest goal of commenting on 20% of entries in every challenge I score, and am starting a new way of doing so.

In the past I have scored all entries, then gone back and picked which photos I would like to comment on. Starting with this BEST OF 2004 challenge, I plan to score and comment on each entry as they arise up to the 20%, then score the rest without comment. (If I feel like it later, I may go back and comment some more.)

By doing so I hope to comment on a wider range of scores, not just the contenders or the poorest entries. And it will force me to do more thinking and comment on the ones I had just as soon skip. Good luck to you in your goal, and we'll see how this goes for me.

I voted on every picture and commented on the ones that really made an impression on me. that's the most I can promise. :)

83 votes and 83 comments so far...Plan on getting to 20% of images voted and commented on before bed and then continue tomorrow.

I tend to comment on those that I feel I can offer constructive and polite comments to, or those that really move me. I tend to not comment on those that I feel like I have nothing real to offer. Do you have to comment on all photos? Am I short changing anyone by selective commenting?

I am finding it tough on some images and have just kept skipping them until I can find something to say. Some of my comments are fairly simple, however I know my own frustration when I think I have a great image and no one comments on why they have voted it low, whether a simple comment or detailed critique...stay tuned for a post "Movie Titles" thread regarding this issue...

Done for this evening...Only 80% remaining...Should be no problem. Average vote cast 5.085. Hope to complete all comments by Thursday and then look at bumping some.

You aren't short changing anyone - I just decided to set out to do this in a moment of madness - there are some shots it's been hard to be constructive with, but I'm assuming its probably much harder in a best of challenge where there are lots of seemingly effortless snapshots - as it is most of the best of images either have somethign appealing or something that can be improved - there aren't many that are flat out awful photos.

SAM!
Thanks so much for such a wonderful comment... what an absolutely lovely thing to wake up to!

Alright, I've now voted on every image and I'm up to 370 odd comments. Problem is, that every time I put a comment on an image I've already voted on I get reset to the front page of the voting system. This is driving me nuts and will prbably prevent me from finishing. Should have thought of this in advance I know - but I had no intention of commenting on everything 2when I started voting. Im guessing there are no ways around this, but if anyone has a solution that would be nice.

On the page displaying all the thumbnails you can click on the little white paper icon next to each title. This will open the photo and comment box in a new window so you can leave a comment. The ones with yellow icons already have a comment :)

Cheers - my mission may yet be completed. I reserve the right to sue when I get carpal tunnel though :).

If you have tabbed browsing in your browser, you can just [cmnd]-[click] the image to comment on (in a new tab) and leave the original screen in the other tab.

You can do this anyway by opening in a new window.
