The technician just left. I've only had high speed internet for about 10 minutes and I've probably downloaded more in that time then in the last two weeks!

3.0 Mbps download/384 Kbps upload, baby!

Now I can download the new GIMP!!

No it is a browser. Try it and you will give up Explorer. It has a pop-up blocker built in, download tool, and best of all it has tabbed browsing. To find out more check out their website. I now only use explorer for those few sites that don't support Firefox.

Keep explorer and try Firefox. If you don't like it you can get rid of it. But I know you will keep it! Tabbed browsing means you can browse many websites and only have one program "Firefox" running not like in explorer you have to open explorer again to browse another website

In Firefox it is not a new window. Technically when you do this to browse say 4 webpages you have Internet Explorer opened four times. In Firefox the program is only opened once.

Highspeed is great- that is my carriers speeds as well 3000/384. And love it.

To keep an eye on your speed, go to //www.dslreports.com and you can periodically test it. If you register, it will save you speed, so you can watch if they later "throttle you down" or if you are not getting the advertised speed.

Also lets you compare your speed to others on the same system (and for that matter other systems).

Did you try Firefox yet?
01/17/2005 05:49:02 PM · #20
No...is it really as good as they say?

Tabbed browsing doesn't sound incredibly great to me...maybe I should try it...

I'd do it just for the tabs.

I've done worse for a lot less.

hahaha

Congrats...I'm loving mine!

...not convinced (at all) about Firefox, though...I'm back to IE.

I used mozilla for about 2 weeks...I just feel more comfortable with IE and things seem to load more properly.

The only thing I use mozilla for is because for some reason, when my eyes are strained from being on here for too long, mozilla can make the font size much bigger than IE can.

Yeah, everyone seems to love the tabbed browsing...I just found it to be a nuisance, since I normally have a few other programs open at the same time.

Tabbed browsing required me to go into Firefox, then open the tab...that's an extra step I can live without.

I really love the yahoo toolbar and everything that comes along with a Rogers high speed account...LAUNCHCast Plus is the best internet radio station I've found by far!!
