Not really. I had to sort them out. There are a lot of images in this. It is more fair to the entrants for me to judge them like this then to do it peice meal. If I did it that way I would be giving high scores for a while after I just finished a hot meal and had a cold beer or after the Eagles win thier next game and crappy scores if I started scoring after I had just dropped my Rebel in the mud.

The ones I gave place holders to, and there are a lot of them will get my time.

Believe me I am not judging your method, I also believe in place holders then going back and bumping up/down. Each voter has there own way of doing things. I was just surprised @ how fast you went through 531 votes. I would right hand cramp from clicking the mouse [lol]. I plan on taking full advantage of the 15 day voting period. Thats about 30 minutes a day @ 35 pictures per. That will give me about 1 minute per picture.

I got 'em all sorted into the "moves me" group (7) and the "doesn't move me" group (5). Something over a third of them are in the first group. Now I'll go through that group a second time and move some portion of them to the "REALLY moves me" group (9). That group will be of substantial size as well. Then I'll vote that group VERY thoughfully into 8-9-10 and comment upon them.

When all that's done, I'll go back to the 7's and move them indvivually into 6-7-8.

Then I'll tackle the 5's group, moving some up to 6 and some down to 4. If I find one in this group that, on closer study, deserves to be bumped even higher, I'll of course do that. ("Deserves" is a relative term, of course; I just mean in my own, personal aesthetic)

I think it unlikely I'll be assigning any 3's or lower to this challenge, just on basic principles.

Robt.

I've only had the camera for a short time and been on this site for an even shorter time.

I'm just submitting so I'm in it and maybe get some feedback, don't think I'll do that well. Maybe next year :)

I'm right there with ya! I've had my camera for about a year, but all my 2004 pics have been of my new baby (of course). That's the reason we bought the camera... cause we were expecting!

Anyway, I just got into this at the end of the year and just wanted feedback... So far... no comments... just a 3.7ish rating... REALLY BAD!

Damn, I can't start voting because I'm not at home and the pictures look to dark on this screen and I don't want someone to suffer because of this crappy computer.

I'm actually not that impressed. I mean there are some really great shots in the challenge but because the number of entries have risen (531) so has the percentage of poor images. I really thought there would be a higher than usual percentage of really good images. With a year's worth of pics to choose from you'd think most everyone would have something really nice to share. I'm finding a lot of low quality images so far...especially considering the theme is "Best of". I feel like, "Is that the best you could do?" :-/ I realize people are learning (myself included) and are not all on the same level but there are pics that seem to have had little to no thought put into them...

I was also expecting to see more great shots, especially since so many ribbons have been awarded and those people really do have talent. At the same time, there are a lot of new members who may have had their cameras for a short time. However, if you don't feel like you're posting the best you could do, don't. (oops, too late...)

I think the field of shots, for the most part is absolutely wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed going through them, and my voting was my highest average ever for a challenge. I'm glad I didn't enter, it's a big field of entries. And I'll be getting a lot of favorites out of this challenge! For me, going through this challenge was a delight.

Now to start commenting...

I disagree. I think if you feel it is "your" best shot YOU have taken that year then you should feel alright to post it without reprecussion. We all had to learn sometime and enteringchallenges I thinkis the best way tolearn and get feedback which all makes us better.

Thank you for defending those of us that are new at this! I did JUST start in December. And I did submit what I thought was a great shot! I didn't expect to win or anything like that. But I did expect to get better ratings than my previous challenges... but somehow, I'm getting my lowest score ever! I'm still not understanding why!
