This is a cautionary note about buying the Pogo universal remotes for use with the Nikon D70.
I purchased a two-pack of the Pogo universal remotes that several D70 users recommended on the Web. The remotes arrived yesterday and, although they work with my TV, they don't work with my D70. Because others have had good luck with the Pogo, I was left wondering if the IR sensor on my D70 was defective.
This morning I called the pharmacy where I bought the D70 and was pleased to learn that they had an ML-L3 in stock. Braving sub-zero temperatures, I rushed there and bought it.
The ML-L3 works perfectly with my D70.
So, you might want to think twice before buying a Pogo remote for your D70.

Did you use the right code(s) is the question. I read using the Sanyo (or Sylvania) TV code worked.
Don't care cuz I have the ML-L3 anyway. Same price and I KNOW it works.

Sadly, you can't program the Pogos by entering codes for the device you want to control because the Pogo's don't have a numeric keypad.
With the Pogo's, you put the remote in auto-search mode, point it at the device you want to control, and press the Ch-Up (or Ch-Down) button until the device turns off. Then you press the TV button and that finishes configuring the remote.

Someone on the Nikon D70 yahoo group told me what I was doing wrong, so I thought I'd share the answer here.
I was giving up too soon. It took approximately four and half minutes of holding the Ch-Down button down before the first Pogo remote triggered the D70.
To program the second remote, I counted button presses instead of holding the button down. It took about 590 button presses before the D70 was triggered.
