This will be hard to judge. I think there is gonna be a lot of really good images here

Well, we do have two weeks to vote so if we vote on 35 a day that's not so bad. :-)
I've been watching the number of submissions as well and have wondered if it would pass the October Free Study (488). I would expect many really great images in this challenge. With a year of pics to choose from there shouldn't be very many poor shots...one would hope anyway.

I think everyone should submit something into this one. I mean everybody has a favorite image out of what they shot in 2004. If not a favorite, then a folder of favorites.
I know I can't really say which one of mine is my favorite, but if I had to pick from what I had I could pick one.
As it was I don't save raw files for more then a week. I just happened to find and old raw file in the trash of a computer I don't use for image processing anymore. It will do.

I think this will be a high scoring... plus, 500 images, it will be tough to vote coherently. Of course, I gave up long ago worrying about voting on all the images in a given challenge. The bigger "problem" will be that there are so many stunning images, it will be hard to rate them.

I am submitting the Image that I personally liked and I hope people can enjoy looking at it. I dont think its really a COMPETITION level entry just one that I like best.

| I'll be really interested to see how people vote on this - I hope they voters treat it similarly to the masters free study where a lot of high scores were handed out, rather than trying to vote according to a normal distribution. Not sure whether I will submit anything or not, but it would be a bit disappointing to submit your best shot and receive a 5.0 simply because your shot (while potentially a really high scorer in another challenge) was average compared to other peoples bests. |

Havn't submitted to this one yet, I've been thinking I should just randomly pic one of my 'keepers' as I don't really have any stand-out stuff from '04.
In '05 already I've had a couple of good'uns maybe I'll just wait till the 'best of 05' challenge next year. :-).
It will be interesting to see how this goes voting wise...
I wonder if the SC would consider extending the voting period? DOH. Scratch that, I see it's 2 weeks already.. :-).

I submitted 1. It's tough to go through at least 20 cd-rs to look for the best.

Lol, after going through big majority of my pics (I never made it through all 13,000+ (and that's prob a huge underestimate cause I had gotten up to 9200 on my new camera and I only got that in June!)) I ended up with one of the photos that caught my eye right after it was taken, even without editing, and now after tweaking it for aobut 4-6 hours total, I think it's ready. ^_^ I did go back and forth between it and another, but the other just didn't catch my eye. I hope this one does okay!

i am looking forward to it starting.. i had a couple images that i wanted to enter.. however, one was taken just after new years and one was taken just BEFORE new years in 2003.. :( .. i hope this is the largest challenge yet... although it has a ways to go to get over 638

now its up to 471!
ouch i'm dead but i'm not looking to win i'm just looking for a little respect from commenters even if they don't like it or would have done something more to the image i just want them to look at it and see it for what it is nothing more.
btw i've only been taking images digitaly since june when i got my camera and it took me for ever and a day to pick this 1 out of over 4000 images.
i really whish this included film scans i've got tons of outstanding shot(if i do say so myself) in the film medium.

Just noticed that it's up to 476 now. How many REALLY late entries do you think there may be now?

The B&W II was 600+ entries and in the end it wasn't hard to vote and comment on at all. I don't see any problem with this challenge. Sure the standard will be higher, so you've got to up your vote and what-do-I-comment-on standard as well. Just be fair and try to comment on some.

alot, alot, alot ppl. don't make up their minds very fast espicaly when there photogerphy for the year is in judgement.

most of my best efforts were in the challenges so I just picked one of my favourites.
