It was over 60 degrees F when I went to bed last night, and I woke up this morning to see this:
At least we don't have mudslides!

I know what you mean, I was wearing a t-shirt yesterday and almost pulled out the shorts it was 64.4F (18C) here and now it's a nice 28.0F (-2C). What a different it was like spring yesterday and snow on the ground this morning.
Here's the forecast for the next week or two week:
Snow, Rain, Rain, Freezing Rain, Snow, Spring, Sun, Rain, Snow, Blizard/SnowStorm, Mid-Spring ... But officially it's mid-winter and it should be -4F (-20C)?!?
I can't keep track here. |

| Well, they're finally calling for some sunshine here tomorrow for the first time this year. It'll be in the mid 20s F (sorry, can't do that math in my head to convert to C) but at least it'll give me a decent change to get some shots for the architecture challenge. |

But here in California we do.
Palm Springs is way above its average rain totals, and roads have been closed for days and days due to flodding. The roads are just gone. Traffic to get on I10 in Desert Hot Springs is terrible to begin with, but close another main road out, and you face "screw work" syndrome and many, many angry people. |

The Day After Tomorrow!
Heard you all had a water spout just off of LA last week. Now you are starting to get the kind of winter weather we have come to think of as normal here in Alabama. We don't get mudslides though.

The only problem with that is that extreme weather has a tendency to destroy cameras (or so I've heard). Maybe an "Aftermath" challenge would be good? |

The temp here in Newfoundland went up to 8 C overnight and we lost quite a bit of snow. Not a complaint but it is crazy weather.

That tsunami really messed the weather up bad. It's been cold here, and maybe a couple of decent snows, but nothing like the winter I'm used to. It was 80F a couple of weeks ago, and this morning, a lot of people's car doors were frozen shut.???? And on the news this morning, I heard it was snowing in Hawaii - ? I don't know what to think anymore. |

I just knew you were from NY! I thought the same thing when I woke up this morning - "Where the heck did this come from?!" Btw, I'm just around the corner from you in the WG area.

I don't recall the last time we had an Ice Storm here and we have had about 4+ in the last 4 weeks it's crazy. I only have one picture up (since I'm not on my main PC) but I have many Ice Storm pictures from the last month, it's not even funny... Damn weather... where's the sun and the heat and the beach babes??? OK take me back to Surfers Paradise... Now PLEASE :-|
Here's one...
PS: But I guess I shouldn't be complaining, since I just came in from the outside, where it's... -12c (10F) and I was wearing shorts.. Hot Tubs ... love them and a cold drink ;-)

No, this strange weather pattern was going on before the tsunami. Where we are we usually get mosyt of our weather off of the Gulf, but since about October it has been coming in across Mexico and California from the Pacific.
Not to mention all the hurricanes we got down here last year. Worst season in history. Last year saw one of the worst toranado seasons in US history too.

I guess you don't live in the eastern part of Ontario then Moose!!! I remember only too well the ice storm of '98 when the lucky ones like myself were without power for ONLY 8 days, and trust me, that is not something I would wish on anyone.
I do agree with you however that the weather hs been rather strange the last few years. This year we were in the freezer at -40 in early December and the day after Christmas it was pouring rain, followed by an instant freeze which turned everything into a skating rink.
Excuse me while I curl up with something HOT, and ask her to read me a story,,,,,,,hehehehe

Now that you mention it, I do recall that storm of '98 but we didn't get the full force down here in Southern Ontario (Hamilton). But I do recall that it's friggin' cold in Ottawa last time I stayed at the Chateau Laurier eating Beaver Tails on the Riddeau Canal while skating ;-) but it was too cold for my wife and me ... burrrrrrrrr!!!
OK, I might need to go curl up with something HOT now ... he he ha ha |

| I would love to swap for some cooler weather. It is supposed to get to 36 here today (that is 96 for you guys). Bad bush fires in south oz. I loathe summer. |

If you loathe summer, you could spend, say, November thru March in the Northern Hemisphere. |

Hmmm... Yummmm and Hmmmm I want some now... ;-)
I've attached a link but here's a quick scoop Beaver Tails
"Beaver Tails" - Canadian Doughnuts
" If you ever visited Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, in the winter months on the Rideau Canal, which is the longest skating rink in the world, they serve a sweet pastry, that is essentially a flat doughnut with sugar on top.

Well I think we should do a house swap, that's right! You come here shovel the snow and scrape the ice and I'll shovel the beach sands from my feet. I'm all for that, it's been a few years since I've been in that sunny part of the world. Memories, scuba diving, sailing, relaxing, sky diving, swimming, surfing ... oh yeah, can't forget the night clubs and the food...
But yes, I will need to pass on that Vegemite stuff... yuck... :-(

Come on up, we've got -10C (I can speak in metric too) and freezing rain/sleet/snow in the forecast.
I am thinking about trading in my car for a pair of ice skates after my daily slide to work.

-10C would be lovely. -29C right now here in Calgary. It's supposed to warm up to a high of 6 next week...I'm gonna be outside in my shorts if that happens.

I'd be happy if it just got cold and stayed that way, but NOOOOOOOOOOO.
It was 60F one day last week and 13F the next. I keep getting my spring and fall head colds everytime.
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHGGGGGGGHHHHH-CHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
