breaking ground !!
oink!
that sounds like a vvverry ambitious topic to me
i got no clue where to think
maybe the nearest i ever came to innovative might be a picture like this
ofcourse one could call it failure too
personally i think i'd consider it as a big achievement to reproduce something like this
anyone who would like a try at this idea i d love to see the outcome
i think the idea should be something like 'deform with an interesting effect' or something like that
all tricky ground
anyobody with wise thoughts about this coming challenge???
ps
about the title: any connection with the drug xtc is purely speculative

I like it. Was there any type of post editing involve in it. I beleive the challenge is basic editing. You should try more and see how they come out |

I expect to see a lot of photos with long exposure times and trailing light due to motion of the camera...if you employ this method, the key will be to give it that *crisp* feeling that this site loves.
I don't think your photo would have done well here, but it certainly is neat to look at! It's not just blurry, it looks like it has depth to it...

E gads, I sure do hope that people leave the idea behind of what people like on this site for this challenge, after all it is called breaking ground. It would be nice to see something totally different more in what the artist himself really likes and feel comfortable with; I think that would be part of breaking ground. |

Sure, but that image won't win unless it's clean.

Sometimes, especially in a challenge such as this I think we key in too much on the blue ribbon and not the art. That is not to say that there is not great art on this site because there is. But would we not be better off deviating from the norm and offer the site members something diiferent. Conformity strives to create boredom, deversity strives for new creation.

im thinking of a ideal situation where noone would doubt me being capable of shooting any clean picture and than take the luxury to drift away from that
im far from that far i fear

I'm gonna take a pic of a puppy chewing on a flower, in front of a sunset.
Why?
A)it will win
b)it will be breaking new grond for me.

I think I will use a tripod. |

I will use a tripod too, and i know both for this and for the 2004 best i'm gonna submit two things that are gonna end up in the second half of the lineup, if not closer to the brown ribbon. But i don't care, 'cause one is gonna be something that i really haven't tried before, and the other one is really one of my best pics, even though the crowds are not going to universally like either of them.
In exchange though, i'm gonna be extremely open minded in the breaking ground voting, and probably won't even mark down for controversial technical deficiencies.
And btw, messerschmitt, that pic is very good. Not a masterpiece, but definitely is something that i would rate much higher than average. |
