I'd prefer a cheap one. When you add a display, keyboard and mouse, well, it's not that inexpensive anymore, although...

Apple displays are as affordable as never before.

If you look closely you can use any monitor dvi 0r vga and a Mac keyboard is all you might have to buy since you can use any usb pointing device. May have to buy one as a media player for the livingroom getting at my media on my main computer via a network connection. This baby is suposed to be wisper quiet.

any USB keyboard and mouse should work.

I am sure any old USB mouse, keyboard will work. Does on regular ol' Mac's. Running OSX...pretty much plug and play anything into it.
Interesting. Gonna be a great college student thing.
Wondering if it has upgradeable memory (didn't see it mentioned), just 256MB RAM. Has pretty much everything else on board though

Could I hook up a PC monitor to it as well? If not are there any adaptors that can?

www.apple.com says that it has a VGA port/adaptor, but I dont know if my computer monitor uses a VGA cable [isn't VGA 800x600?]

VGA was 640X480 and SVGA was 800X600, but the adapter they are talking about is a standard analog display adapter which is also called VGA just to help keep things confusing. The Minimac should work with any standard analog that uses the VGA style adapter. The other option was component output for each color channel, but that was pretty rare for PCs.

AMD and Intel were two of the largest losers on the stock market last year. Intel was in fact the single biggest loser while in the same period Apple stock went up over 300% having the single biggest gain on Wall Street.

Put your finger in the wind.

while i've never been a fan of apple computers, it's nice to see them making some headway. i'd like to see apple make up a larger share of the personal computer market.

this mac mini is pretty sweet. if i had the extra cash, i would get one. it's pretty freakin cool!

Not if it crashes as much as the G5

It's a G4, so I doubt it.

Maybe I can get one and bring it to work, hook it up to this PC monitor, and do some photo editing on my lunch break.

Any normal VGA monitor will work with the mac mini's VGA out, as long as the monitor is DVI-cabled or you have a DVI->VGA adapter (apple sells them too). Certainly looks like a tasty little toy, esp for small server usage or home entertainment setups - I'm sorely tempted to get one (but then again I am a UNIX freak...)

We've got four heavily used G5s at my office. What's a crash?

Me too- I just need an excuse. First time in 19 years I've ever wanted to buy a Mac that I didn't really need.

What would all of you use this for that your current system doesn't or can't do?

Just curious...

Now if they'd just add a built-in 4" LCD and a CF reader... ooh baby!
