I spent a few hours tonight tweaking the heck out of the curves and levels on this one to get the top-rear, black edge, just right against the black background. It looked freakin awesome in PS. Then I converted to sRGB. Still looked great. Resized down to 640, still looked fine.
Then I posted it to my new PAD site (The Ravenwood Archive) and here and all the detail on the back edge seems to have disappeared. Am I just going blind or is it really gone? I don't wanna have to go back and tweak this more, but dang it, I'm determined to get this thing the way I envision it.
Thanks in advance and sorry, I just couldn't resist the urge to shamelessly plug the new page (The Ravenwood Archive). ;-)

On my monitor the edges of the level are visible, but very understated. I think it would help if the BG were closer to true black, it is quite gray as it is.

Thanx Fritz! Are you on a CRT/LCD PC/MAC?
I have taken the cheap way out on my supplies, poster paper from Staples and Halogens from Home Depot. I figure until I can really squeeze the most out of PS, I wanna challenge myself to working in the worst of conditions (not really, I'm just cheap) then when I move up in the supplies world, it will be so much easier to get the final result looking right that I will think I've gotten better. ;-)

PC with Sony Trinitron CRT running at 32-bit color depth. Not "hardware" calibrated, but quasi-calibrated often using software to set black, white & gamma for individual colors.

I can barely separate it, have to look real close, on an Electron Blue 22, calibrated.
Robt.
Just went to Ravenwood, zero separation there. Just recalibrated monitor, a hair more separation visible in DPC now but I have to look close.

Did a quick and dirty adjustment someone told me to try.
There is VERY LITTLE difference that I can see, but I think it might be just enough. You'll prolly notice a color change too. Thanx all for opinions and guidance. (not posted at Ravenwood yet)

Ok, so I went back on Version2, did a levels exposure up on RGB, dropped the Green a bit, then channel mixed RED (-10R+10G) and Green (-10G+10R) which seemed to shift out the green some more and allowed the levels to push the edge over the black now.
This better? Updated previous entry's thumb....
