Had been closer to 6.1. Slowly crashing and burning...
Good luck to everyone!

That seems to be the trend, as I'm down 0.3 from 24hrs ago. I assume this is because the people who initially have a strong response to the image vote, right then, and probably high. Then the less "moved" groups file in over the balance of voting time, with more conservative scores.
At least that̢۪s the theory I̢۪m going with ;)
Good luck to everyone who entered!

You might be right. :-/
I still have hope that I'll get above a 6 again with the group of voters who initially put photos into groups by vote and then go back through to adjust them up or down. Maybe I shouldn't hold my breath though. :-)

Well I'm on 5.4 but I should have gone with another option, had a feeling I made the wrong choice. I went with a "common" subject, however I feel technically it was a really nice shot. No comments at all, I can't believe that......Simply voters are "passed" my subject choice !
There are some fantastic photos. Good Luck everyone ! |

I was told that mine wasn't really bokeh.... but the dictionary describes bokeh as:
Definition: a Japanese term for the subjective aesthetic quality of out-of-focus areas of a photographic image
Example: The bokeh, or quality of the blurred image in the photograph, was described and discussed.
The background on mine IS out of focus... therefore qualifies as bokeh... sorry for the rant... but I didn't think that was a fair comment...

Key in that SUBJECTIVE. I must have just got hit with two VERY low scores. Was a 5.45ish area and went down to 5.37 with 2 (maybe 4) votes (can't remember). Some hardasses on the loose right now..watch em drop kiddies! (C:
Oh Yeah...NO NEW COMMENTS either!! Are you surprised?

Maybe they will do it across the board (except for their own crappy photo that's probably rating a 3 right now.) so it won't hurt anyone in particular.

Votes go down but commenters really like my photo. Will be interesting to see the vote-breakdown after the challenge (commenters vs rest)
I have a feeling I will both break me PB for 10's and 1's
Hopefully some of the 1's are simply placeholders, soon to be replaced by more 10's. Well. you live and learn (and hope)
Good luck y'all.
Edit:
I console myself with having a killer image uploaded for the upcoming Movie titles. :)

Sheesh, Gauti... anyone that uses a 1 for a placeholder for a potential 10 should be shot at dawn on the parade grounds...
Personally, I use a 4 for first-sort below-average images and a 7 for first-sort above-average, then move 'em up and down from there.
That way I don't cause any major seismic events when I adjust.
Robt.
Russell, I'm easy troll bait; I do bleak pictures in the winter. Wait til springtime and see me get all sunny & bright :-)

Well, Robert, I said I was hoping. Not very optimistic, though.
Since you commented on mine, I can alway hope you'll upgrade it :)

Nah, once I comment the score is fixed. I score them all first, then go back and comment. I comment on maybe 35-45% on average, but score 100% in each challenge I score. Seems only fair to me. But my comments tend towards the detailed (not always) and so I can make fewer of them.
When I comment I start at the top and work down, so the early comments are usually the ones with the best scores as well.

The poor ones need the comments most.
The mid pack ones get teh fewest comments - so there your assistance will be most appreciated.
As for score...i am sinking...was at 5.15 or so and now down to 4.90. 3 comments - 2 love it. 1 disapproves of my style of bokeh.
Oh well. Movie titles starts in about an hour...I am trying something completely different for me...lets see if the voters do something comletely different - and like it! LOL

You really think so? I've been doing this for the last 8 challenges!!
I keep the tracking data on an Excel worksheet and it'll do the graphic for me. If you want I can e-mail it to you. |

Yes, well, they are the ones that seem to generate all the hate mail and nasty PMs. Notice the best ones get the most comments and I am sure that it is for exactly that reason.
The people who send in these little out of focus snapshots are the ones that need the comments the most to help them improve, yet they seem so peppered with thin skinned beginers that most people shy away from helping any of them in that way. It would seem the only reason some of these people come here is not to learn or for fellowship, but to have someone besides thier mother tell them what beautiful pictures they take.
