Well... a bit of one, anyway.
A couple of months ago, a local magazine got in touch after they'd seen my photo of Castle Hill (a local landmark), and wanted to put it on the cover.

They said they couldn't pay me, but they would write an interview with me the following month. The interview was VERY generous, and you can see it here:

It's superb adverstising, as the magazine looks great and is very glossy, and is given away free in loads of places around where I live.
So, I agreed to supply some more photos for free, and wrote a few articles about the music scene in Huddersfield.

I had a meeting with them on Friday, and they want to employ me on a regular basis to take photos for 3 local magazines and write loads of articles as well! Result! I'll actually get paid to travel out for 1/2 day or a whole day taking photos around Yorkshire! It's great... I can suggest writing an article about something I want to take pictures off, and get paid for it. Hopefully this is the start of an interesting career as a photojournalist...

Well Done, Bob! This could be the first step on a new and interesting journey.

The article will do you no harm either, as you said, it's free advertising for your photography, your music teaching and your website business. Now, you have the added bonus of using your photos and your own words in a creative way.

I am sure you will succeed in this as you have in other things you have been involved with. Best of Luck with your future as a photojourno!!

That's very cool Bobster. But it wasn't just a fluke that they saw a pic they liked. From what I know of you here on dpc, you have worked hard at your photography and it has shown steady improvement. We all wish you success in your new job, but hope it doesn't mean we have seen the last of your lovely pictures in our challenges.
